An excess amount of water on the road can cause your vehicle to hydroplane. Your vehicle will glide over the water instead of the road. Good vehicle maintenance is one of the things that you can do in order to prevent hydroplaning. Your tires have to be in good condition. Make sure that they have enough tread and do not have any holes in them. You should also be careful when you drive. You are most likely to hydroplane during the first 10 minutes it starts raining.

It is a good idea for you to drive more slowly. If you are driving at a speed of 35 miles per hour, then it will be easier for you to come to a complete stop. The right lane is most likely to collect rain water. That is why it is a good idea to switch lanes if possible.
