When it comes to staying safe, maintaining proper tire pressure is absolutely critical. Jasper drivers can enjoy optimum handling and control, shorter stopping distances, and lower tire replacement costs. At Ruxer Truck Center, we offer a comprehensive range of services for keeping tires working like they should. Read on to find out why.
Low Air Pressure Increases Wear and May Cause Blowouts
Not having enough air in your tires increases the risk of blowouts and accelerates normal tire wear. When tires are sagging, more of their surface is touching the ground. The result is increased friction and heat across the entire tire surface. Even the sidewalls of underinflated tires are subjected to damage as they're forced to flex excessively during movement.
Too Much Air in Your Tires Could Keep You From Stopping on Time
Having too much air in your tires is also problematic. Overinflated tires do not make good ground contact. In fact, only a thin, center portion of their surfaces connects with the road. In wet weather, this greatly increases the risk of hydroplaning. On dry days, having overinflated tires will still lead to greater stopping distances and less overall control. Worse still, a tire that has too much air in it can be easily ruptured by even small-sized debris.
